Now that we’ve reached February, I think it’s about time for a writing update!
Here’s some quick background information…
- If you didn’t know, I’m planning on announcing the publication date of an unannounced project (Code Name: OBATU) sometime this year
- Currently, OBATU is with my Beta readers. They’re going through and making comments, answering some questions for each chapter, and overall just being incredibly helpful. They’re the best!
- I’m also working on writing a different project while OBATU is with my Beta readers. For now, we’re just going to call it Project 2!
Alright: onto the fun stuff.
The Stats
OBATU, as I said above, is currently with my Beta Readers. I’ll be getting that back from them on March 22nd, and I hope to have the edits based on their comments all finished by March 29th. It’s totally okay if I don’t have that done by then, of course, but that’s the goal.
Project 2 is going along swimmingly! I have an aim of 30k words for this first draft (although I’m planning on having it be longer than that as I move into the editing stage), and I’m currently at around 17k.
I’m really enjoying the process of writing Project 2! Honestly, it’s been a while since I wrote a first draft, and I forgot how fun it can be. It’s intimidating, too, of course (there’s just so much potential in a blank page!), but it’s been really fun and I hope it continues to be so.
Other Projects?
If you’ve been around for a bit, you may be wondering: what about some of your other projects? BTDS (code name)? Everending (working title)? Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten them, but they are on pause for the time being.
BTDS is still technically in the world building stage. It’s going to be, hopefully, a pretty intense world with a lot of depth, so I’m taking my time on developing it.
Everending has been around for roughly a decade. It’s been through, I believe, 29 drafts. I still love it to pieces, but I’m allowing myself to set it down for now and get some space from it before I continue working on it. It’s on its last edit (hopefully), but I want to make absolutely sure that that’s true before I get to working on it. A little space is all I need to make sure that, when I come back to it, I can see any changes that need to be made without having to edit it twenty more times (lol)!
Newsletter, Social Media, and Other
Currently, I’m sharing at least once a month on my newsletter (which I’d love to share with you, if you aren’t already a part of it). I do more regular updates (especially on OBATU), and they get all the insider information before anyone else. If you’re interested, go ahead and check it out!
I’m also trying to share on my social media regularly. If you haven’t followed me on TikTok or Instagram yet, you should go do that! I love sharing funny things about writing and reading, and I’d love to have you be part of that community.
Other than that, I’m doing what I can to keep up with my writing and hone in my craft. I appreciate you and the way you follow my journey, and I really can’t thank you enough.
Are you an author? If so, what are you working on? Let me know in the comments!

I am an author as well but my book hasn’t been conceived yet. It’s still a Twinkle in my eye. Any advice?
Take the time you need to explore the idea before putting anything for the actual content of the book down on paper! Take your time letting the idea sit, writing down more ideas, and gathering a general plan of where you want the story (whether fiction or nonfiction!) to end up before you write down the book itself. Otherwise it’s so much easier not to finish the story!
