I’m around halfway through my trip to Thailand! So, it’s time for a photo dump.
Day 1
We arrived on September 6th at around 10:30 in the morning. My mom came and picked us up from the airport, and it took just about all that I had in me to stay awake. I was really excited to be here, so that definitely helped, but after 24+ hours of not sleeping, it was torture trying to keep my eyelids open.
After we dropped our things at the house, we headed to the mall to try and stay awake. It was so fun to be back after so long away, but it was also…really strange. I was at the mall I went to all the time in high school…with my husband. What?!
At the mall, we saw a lot of cute clothes that I will most definitely be purchasing. We also saw this really cute shirt with “Medrh Cfriktmas” on it. It made me laugh when I finally realized – mainly because it took me so long to even notice! Isn’t it crazy how our brains just…fill in the blanks when words aren’t quite right?
Then, we went home. I made it to…oh…about…5:00 p.m….and then went right to bed. Somehow, miraculously, I managed to sleep in until 7:00 a.m. or so the next day anyway!
Day 2
The next day, we headed to the fruit market to pick up some yummy local fruits. I missed dragon fruit and mangosteen especially, but we also got some other fruits along the way.
After that, we went out to lunch at a favorite place of ours here in town. Eventually, in the evening, we ended up back at the mall to meet up with a friend I hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing in at least two years. It was so much fun getting to see her again. She has always been such a blessing to me, and I was so happy I got to introduce my husband to her!
Day 3
Day three was Sunday. Here in Thailand, the church we attend meets in the evenings. Because of that, it was a relatively slow morning. Then, my friend came and picked me up and we went out to lunch just us (delicious food pictured below).
After that, it was time for church. The service was lovely and the message was amazing…although I was struggling to stay awake during it! After stopping for dinner, I got to bed at around 7 or 8 again. But I’m proud of myself for being able to stay up that much, at least!
Day 4
On Monday, Adam (my husband) and I mostly just spent time walking around the city. It rained a little bit, but not too much, and we got to go to Warorot Market (a day market here in Chiang Mai). I got some new clothes and got the chance to show him around town, so it was definitely a win-win.
Other than that, we mostly just hung out at home and celebrated my mom’s birthday! We went to the Duke’s for dinner (an amazing American food place here in Chiang Mai) and just spent some quality time together.
Day 5
Finally, on Tuesday, we spent the morning at the mall (again) where I bought three new dresses I’d had my eye on since day one...and they were only about $10-$15 each. Can you believe that? It would’ve cost $30 for each in the USA, and it cost about the same for all three here! Maybe I should move back… 😉
We came home and spent some time with family (and my pets. I missed my cat and dog so much!) and then went out to a traditional Khantoke Dinner in the evening. We got to sit on the floor right at the front of the stage, eat a variety of foods, and watch a show. It was so much fun, the food was delicious, and the dances were so cool. Keep your eye out for a video from me later – I’m planning on putting a compilation together once my time here is done!
Overall, I’ve had an absolutely wonderful first few days here. I missed Thailand so much, and I’m so blessed to have been able to come here again. I’ll keep you updated as my last days here continue. I can’t wait to fill you in once I make it back to the USA!
In the meantime, if you want smaller photo dumps along the way, you can follow my Instagram! I’ve been doing my best to keep everyone pretty well updated over there.
Thank you so much for sticking with me on this looooong update! I appreciate you so much.
